The Vikings of Rainier Beach head into this season coming off of a 23-9 campaign and a 6th place finish in the 3A WIAA Boys Basketball Championships. They also finished the year ranked 45th nationally. The Vikings return some standout players this year, led by 6’5 forward Kevin Porter, 6’3 guard Fred Roberson and 6’9 center Nehime Kabaya. Rainier Beach will be buoyed by the addition of impact newcomers, point guard Tre Anderson and guard Mike Monroe.
The Vikings are led by Coach Mike Bethea, with 24 years of head coaching experience. Rainier Beach has a storied basketball tradition which includes NBA players Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Doug Christie, Terrence Williams, and Dejounte Murray. Coach Bethea and the Vikings are excited for the upcoming season and their goal is to win the WIAA State Championship.
