Pleasant Grove heads to the ‘Iolani Classic for the first time in 2018. The Vikings are led by Head Coach Randy McAllister and are coming off a second place finish in the state of Utah, losing to Lone Peak 61-44 in the state championship game. The Vikings have a strong returning group of seniors, led by 6’2 Casey Brown, 15 ppg (committed to BYU), 7’4 Matt Van Komen, 16 ppg, 5 bpg (committed to Utah), 5’9 Kawika Akina and 5’10 Tyler Fairbanks. 6’2 Junior Kael Mikkelsen is also a returning starter for Pleasant Grove. The Vikings are excited to bring back a veteran group.

Coach McAllister commented on the upcoming season. “Expectations are high this season for a team that lost in the state championship game last year and has most of its core guys back. 83% of the offense is back. Experience and poise should be strengths of this year’s team. Our pre-season schedule is loaded with tough opponents that we hope will better prepare us for the stretch run in Utah.”
