Naha Senior High School was established over 100 years ago and is one of the oldest high schools in Okinawa. The Bears of Naha Senior High enter the 2017 ‘Iolani Classic as first-time participants. Led by Coach Kengo, Naha Senior High has been a highly successful basketball program on the island of Okinawa. The Bears have won the last five Okinawa Inter High School Tournaments as well as the last five Okinawa High School Winter Cup Championships. In addition to that success, Naha Senior High has also been the Okinawa Prefecture representative for the past five seasons.
Head Coach Yaka Kengo, a graduate of Naha Senior High, has led the Bears for 22 seasons and has high expectations for this year’s team. The Bears hope to go undefeated within the Okinawan prefecture, win the All Kyushu Inter High School Tournament and finish in the top eight at the All Japan Inter High School Tournament.
