The Monarchs of Mater Dei enter the 2019 ‘Iolani Classic as first-time entrants into the tournament. Head Coach Kevin Kiernan leads a squad that is coming off a stellar 2018-19 season with a team that finished ranked 7th in California with a 28-4 record. The Monarchs will be led by returning double-figure scorers in juniors Brooke Demetre and Alyssa Frescas.

Coach Kiernan, with an overall record of 344-42, is ready for the year. “This upcoming 2019-2020 season we will be starting one freshman, three juniors, and one senior. We have a really young team but with some great veteran leaders. We look forward to defending our league title and hopefully make a run at a CIF & State Open Division Championship. This group of kids loves to compete and play the game of basketball. We have one of the top schedules in the country, so come playoff time we will be battle tested.”
