The Spartans of Maryknoll return to the `Iolani Classic for the eleventh time in 2021. Maryknoll enters the 2021-22 season as the defending HHSAA Division I State Champions, having claimed the 2020 title with a victory over fellow ILH competitor, Kamehameha. Head Coach Kelly Grant and Maryknoll will count on returning upperclassmen to help lead this year’s squad. Senior forward Logan Dias, along with guards Parker Grant (Sr.) and Justin Yap (Jr.) will be counted on for veteran leadership. Newcomers Jaren Kaneshiro and Micah Sakamoto will be counted on for solid outside shooting, while junior forward Fabian Camacho will be counted on inside as an athletic 6’0 forward.

Coach Grant gave some insight on his team. “We are undersized as a team and will rely on multiple 3 point shooters. I’m excited to see how this team will respond to playing bigger teams. We spent a considerable amount of time in the weight room getting stronger. We are just blessed to have an opportunity to play a full season.”
