The Hurricanes of Kapolei High School enter the 2017 ‘Iolani Classic for their fourth appearance overall and second in as many years. The Hurricanes finished last year’s tournament with a 1-3 record, but not without some impressive performances from their group. Senior small forward Zoar Nedd was named to the 2016 ‘Iolani Classic All-Tournament Team. Nedd averaged over 16 points per game last season as a junior. Junior guards Jashon Carter and Isaiah Higa add veteran scoring and solid guard play for Head Coach Gary Ellison and the Hurricanes. Senior forward Maquis Mongomery and 6’9 junior center Julius Buelow are expected to bolster Kapolei inside.

The Hurricanes, who finished 2016-17 ranked 10 in the state of Hawaii, are looking forward to this year. Coach Ellison commented: “Our team expectation is to play tough defense and play together as a team.”
