The Raiders of ‘Iolani School enters the 2019-20 season with a roster eager to compete. While the team will have some new faces, the head coach will also be new to the role at ‘Iolani School this year. Alumnus Ryan Hirata (’03) helms the Raiders in 2019-20, taking over for long-time coach, Dean Shimamoto. ‘Iolani will look to key returnees to make the transition a smooth one. Seniors Wes Yamada, Tyler Morita, Carter Kamana, Micah Camat and Kilo Scanlan will be looked to for veteran leadership. Juniors Andrew Dawson and Shayden Molina will be counted on to add a post-presence and sophomore Bailey Bumanglag will be asked to be a backcourt presence.
Coach Hirata commented on the team: “We are excited about the blue-collar style of basketball the Raiders plan to play in order to compete in the grueling ILH. As the host of the 'Iolani Classic, we are all humbled by the amazing opportunity to play in one of the best high school tournaments in the country.
