The ‘Iolani Classic welcomes back the Lions of Fairfax High school for the 16th time in 2017. Fairfax has had a long tradition of success at the `Iolani Classic, including a 40-20 overall record in the tournament. The Lions enter 2017-18 after a successful season in 2016-17, including a 26-6 overall record and a conference championship.
Fairfax will be led by a group of returning upperclassmen this season. Seniors Jamal Hartwell (5’11, point guard) and Kirk Smith (6’7, forward) as well as juniors Ethan Anderson (6’1, point guard) and Rob McRae (6’3, shooting guard) will be expected to fill key roles this season. Juniors Daylen Williams and Ronald Mitchell as well as senior Mekhi Kimble are newcomers that are also expected to impact the team this season. Coach Baik commented on the team overall: “Our expectations for this season are to win LA City and have the satisfaction of knowing we played our best each game.”
