The Monarchs of Damien Memorial enter the ‘Iolani Classic for the fourth time in 2019. The Monarchs were last in the tournament in 2005. Damien, led by Head Coach Alvin Stephenson Jr., comes into the year with high expectations. Led by 6’7 senior forward Bryce Forbes as well 6’4 senior forward Jake Holtz, Damien expects big things this season. The Monarchs also return a trio of experienced seniors: 5’5 CJ Nakamura, 6’2 Micah Chung and 5’10 G Jarvis Natividad.
The 2019-20 season includes a move up to ILH Division I after the team won the 2018-19 HHSAA Division II Boys Basketball Championship. They did so after finishing the year 29-2, and 12-0 in the ILH. Coach Stephenson is looking forward to an exciting year.
